Fresh Baguette

Ingredients:
  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 cups lukewarm water
  • 2tsp traditional yeast
  • 2tsp salt
Directions:
  • The night before, combine all ingredients and then add water. Mix until combined.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and let sit for 12-20 hours on the counter.
  • The following day the dough will be wet, generously flour hands and form 2 baguette shapes.
  • Place on parchment paper lined baking sheet. Score the top with a sharp knife making 5-6 diagonal marks.
  • Let dough rise for 1 hour.
  • Preheat oven to 450°F.
  • You will use two shelves in your oven. Pour two cups of boiling water in a cookie sheet and place on the bottom rack.
  • Add baguettes to oven and bake for 10 minutes. Remove water tray and bake baguettes for and additional 10 minutes until golden crispy brown.
