French Baguette

Recipe Ingredients:

  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 cups lukewarm water
  • 2 tsp traditional yeast
  • 2 tsp salt

Directions:

  1. The night before, combine all ingredients and then add water. Mix until combined.
  2. Cover with plastic wrap and let it sit for 12-20 hours on the counter.
  3. The following day the dough will be wet, generously flour hands and form 2 baguette shapes.
  4. Place on the parchment paper lined on a baking sheet. Score the top with a sharp knife making 5- 6 diagonal marks.
  5. Let the dough rise for 1 hour.
  6. Preheat oven to 450 °F.
  7. You will use two shelves in your oven. Pour two cups of boiling water into a cookie sheet and place on the bottom rack.
  8. Add baguettes to oven and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the water tray and bake the baguettes for an additional 10 minutes until golden crispy brown.
