Recipe Ingredients:
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp dry active yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 cups flour
Directions:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and yeast. Stir in warm water and let sit for 5 min or until frothy.
- Add the salt and olive oil and then 2.5 cups of flour.
- In a stand mixer with the bread hook on, mix well. Continue mixing and add 1 tbsp of flour at a time until the dough starts to pull from the sides of the bowl
- Kneed with the stand mixer for 10 min. (Add a dust of flour if it gets too sticky.)
- Remove the dough and tuck in the edges of the dough to create a nice ball. Coat the sides of the bowl with olive oil, then add the dough back to the bowl, lightly coating the dough with olive oil.
- Cover the bowl and let rise for an hour.
- Remove the dough from the bowl and cut it into 10 equal pieces.
- Tuck in the edges of each piece to form a ball. Let rest for 20-30 min.
- Dust the table surface with flour and then roll each piece of dough out into a 6-inch circle.
- Coat pan with olive oil over medium heat and cook for 20-30 seconds until bubbles form.
- FLIP and then cook for another 20-30 seconds.
- FLIP again and cook for 1 min until the pita puffs up.
- Repeat until each piece of dough has cooked.
ENJOY!
